1) Sitar is a long-necked-stringed musical instrument.

2) It is approximately 4 feet long.

3) It is one of the most dominant instruments in Hindustani music.

4) It produces music with stretched strings. They are made of metal.

5) It can have 18, 19, 20 or 21 strings. But a sitar player plays only one set of strings.

6) The playable set comprises 5 to 7 strings.

7) It has a resonating gourd under the pegbox.

8) The body of the sitar is made of wood like Teak, Sheesham etc.,

9) It is usually played while seated.

10) Ravi Shankar is my favorite sitar player.
