He is one of the greatest Indian freedom fighters who sacrificed his life for the freedom of his country. Sukhdev was born on 15th May 1907 in Ludhiana, Punjab.

His father's name was Ramlal Thapar and his mother's name was Ralli Devi His full name was Sukhdev Thapar. Since his childhood days, Sukhdev saw the atrocities of the Britishers on Indians.

Those atrocities enraged Sukhdev and he decided to free our country. He took his primary studies in school and further studies at National College Lahore.

He became a member of the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army. He wanted to do something for our country.

He started an organization Naujawan Bharat Sabha in Lahore to attract youths. Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru were best friends.

They killed the Police Officer JP Saunders at Lahore in 1928 to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai.

The trio of Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru were arrested by the British police for bombing the Central Assembly Hall in New Delhi on 8th April 1929.

He was convicted of the crime and sentenced to death as a verdict. Sukhdev took an active part in the hunger strike in the jail in 1929.

On 23rd March 1931 the three brave revolutionaries Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru were hanged at Lahore's Central Jail They gave a slogan Inquilab Zindabad.

Their bodies were burnt. Sukhdev was at the age of 23 years. At a very young age, three of them died. Martyr's Day or Shaheed Diwas is celebrated on the 23rd of March every year in the honor of Sukhdev, Bhagat Singh, and Rajguru who had sacrificed their lives for our country. They will be always remembered.
