Introduction

Cricket is an internationally recognised game and undoubtedly, an important force for world peace and so it must be encouraged and promoted in every possible way. Teams from the far corners of the world visit the countries where matches are played.

They often come with large contingents of extras, attendants and cricket fans. Such exchange of visits brings the countries closer and closer. Such coming of the people from different parts of the world makes the people familiar with the culture and way of life of different countries.

 Ace cricketer of India

One such promoter of world peace, love and understanding are Sachin Tendulkar, the ace cricketer of India. He is my favourite cricket player in the Indian team which has always banked on him for not only scoring runs but also getting wickets.

He is not only an excellent and a marvellous batsman but also a wicket getting bowler. He has all those good qualities which are required in a good cricketer: he is cool, composed, poised,power-packed, having a gentle disposition to face every situation calmly.

Sachin Tendulkar played his first international match when the Indian team toured Pakistan for a full test series in 1989-1990. On his tour was witnessed the test debut off the seventeen-year-old sachin Tendulkar. His transformation from a prodigiously talented youngster to a champion who fought when the chips were down.

It was a series when the legend was born. Former Indian captain Chandu Borde was the manager of the Indian team and he writes: that innings left me in no doubt that India had found a gem.

Indeed, the Sialkot test of the 1989-1990 series witnessed the birth of the legend. Since 1989-1990,

Sachin Tendulkar has never looked back and he proved himself to be the mainstay and anchor of the Indian cricket team.

He has broken several records and established his own records in national and international cricket. He has scored more than ten thousand runs in international cricket. He has made more than thirty centuries in test cricket and also more than thirty centuries in one-day international.

He has won many of the match' and 'man of the series' awards many times. He has been a prolific run-getter for India. He is not only a marvellous batsman but also a great bowler. He has taken more than a hundred wickets in international matches.

My Favourite Sportsman Sachin Tendulkar Essay in English

On 16 November 2013, Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket after serving as the foundation stone of Indian cricket. He played his 200th and last Test match against West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

The Government of India has honored him with India's highest civilian honor 'Bharat Ratna'. In his career spanning 24 years in cricket, the master-blaster has made many records in his name.

This youngest son of an ordinary Marathi professor used to weave his future dreams with a bat in his hand. His luck favored him for the first time when Ramakant Achrekar, known as Dronacharya of the cricket world, accepted him as his disciple.

Achrekar's testing eyes imagined that this student (called Sachin) had come from the depths of his heart to learn from him. The teacher realized that one day this student's bat would sing a song that would enthrall the cricket lovers of the world for a long time.

Sachin also worked hard with Achrekar and created history at the age of thirteen in partnership with his childhood friend Vinod Kambli.

These two players shared a record partnership of 664 runs for the sixth wicket in the school cricket tournament.

This was the first success of Sachin's life, which acted as a tonic for him. After this, his hunger for such achievements kept increasing.

Sachin had to wait for almost five years to score his first century in one-day cricket matches. However, after scoring the first century, he liked the century innings so much that he became busy in his efforts to score a century in every innings.

Sachin's growing appetite can be gauged from the fact that Sachin, who scored a century in the seventy-ninth ODI match against Australia (in Colombo) in 1994, had scored 49 centuries till 23 December 2012. He said goodbye to it.

In his career spanning 24 years, Sachin has scored 18,426 runs in ODIs (with 49 centuries) and 15,921 runs (with 51 centuries) in Test matches.

On 24 February 2010 in Gwalior, Sachin became the first batsman in the world to score an unbeaten 200 in ODIs. He made this record while playing against South Africa. Sachin played more than 400 matches to establish this milestone.

During this, he scored runs at a strike rate of 90. On 16 March 2012, Sachin completed his 100th century while playing against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup in Mirpur, Bangladesh. For the first time in the history of cricket, a century has been completed.

This was Sachin's 49th century in ODIs. He has scored 51 centuries in Test cricket. Sachin has scored centuries in international cricket against all countries.

Appreciating his contribution to sports, the President has nominated him to the Rajya Sabha. Sachin is the only player in the history of the last 60 years who has been nominated to the Upper House.

THANK YOU SO MUCH
