WHAT IS AI?
SIRI and self-driving cars are two examples of how artificial intelligence (AI) is advancing. AI can include everything from Google's search algorithms to IBM Watson to autonomous weapons. In science fiction, AI is often portrayed as robots with human-like characteristics.

The goal of limiting artificial intelligence's impact on society in the near term motivates research in many areas, from economics and law to technical topics like verification, validity, security, and control. The invention of strong AI might be the biggest event in human history if it helps us eradicate war, disease, and poverty by inventing revolutionary new technologies. However, some experts have expressed concern that it may also be the last unless we can align the AI's goals with ours before it becomes superintelligent.
A few question whether strong AI will ever be achieved, while others insist that superintelligent AI will be beneficial.

These weapons were designed to be extremely difficult to simply "turn off," which could lead to humans losing control in such an event.
