Essay on Importance of Mental Health (700 words)
The popular saying "Health is Wealth" gives great meaning to our lives as health is considered the most valuable and precious to every individual. Good health means not only a state of absence of disease in the body but the complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being of the individual. Here we are talking about mental health.
Overall mental health is as important as your physical health. While we try to keep our bodies, clothes and shirts fit and healthy, it is also necessary to keep our minds fit and strong.
In our 21st century, almost one out of the stalled generations around the world is facing mental health problems. Most of them are experiencing various types of depression and anxiety due to peer pressure, family and poor self-esteem.
Keeping the body in good health is a duty otherwise we will not be able to keep our minds strong and clear.
Every year "World Mental Health Day" is observed on 10 October, it was initiated as an annual activity by the World Federation for Mental Health by the Deputy Secretary-General of the UNO at that time. Mental health resources vary greatly from country to country.
The World Health Organization defines mental health as "a state of well-being in which a person realizes his potential". He can cope with the normal stresses of life and is able to contribute to society as mental health affects our daily lives. Family and social understanding and physical health help to balance various life events. He is happy in happiness and when there is sorrow or adversity, he teaches us how to come out of it and live life in the right direction.
Research suggests that every fourth person suffers from some form of mental illness but is afraid to see a doctor, knowing that he or she is dealing with a mental problem alone. The big reason for this is the misconception of our society to be suffering from mental problems or prejudices.
We may not remember that we ever went to a doctor or hospital for a diagnosis of a mental problem, even when there were minor physical problems such as; Diseases bigger than cold fever- heart disease, diabetes and cancer, we should seek medical advice immediately.
Like physical illness, there are many types of mental problems, which are possible to diagnose, but due to not getting medical advice at the right time, minor mental problems become big and sometimes fatal results like suicide.
We should find ways to treat mental illness as soon as it is identified in order to prevent the worst-case situation - https://www.midss.org/
It is also difficult to take action against those who do not understand the movement of mental health awareness, who go ahead and educate society about the importance of keeping our minds healthy and give proper dialogue and treatment to those people. There are those who have a hard time dealing with concerns. Like physical illness, mental illness can also be treated and cured.
Many organizations companies and industries in society are now uniting towards mental health awareness. Fashion companies are creating custom T-shirts with encouraging words or phrases. The office industry is setting a mental health corner for their employees who could possibly experience mental health problems.
The NGOs are reaching out to families whose set-up is disturbed and who are affecting the mental health of their children.
These are all positive qualities that can help spread mental health awareness and eliminate the stigma that anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns are just drama or not a result. Keeping our mind as well as the mental health of everyone else is an important aspect of our health in order to maintain a healthy and balanced life.
There is fulfilment at every step in life, everyone wants to be equal to each other. Where to maintain a healthy style at school or college level or in life. People should recognize the fact that health is first we can do all this only when we are healthy and work better on other aspects of life. The government should also provide good health facilities for the betterment of the country.
"What mental health need is
More sunlight, more candon
and more unashamed conversation. "
Essay on Importance of Mental Health ( 600 Words)
Health does not always come from medicine it comes from peace of mind peace in the heart and peace in the soul we all are very much aware of physical health these days we know everything there is to know what to eat what not to eat everything
but when it comes to mental health the awareness just is there we might think that mental health is nothing compared to physical health but we are wrong, mental pain may be less dramatic than physical pain but it is more common and also harder to bear
The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden it is easier to say my tooth is aching than to say my heart is broken, our country India is currently home to a population of over 1 billion citizens
A recent study conducted by the World Health Organization reveals that one in five Indians may suffer from depression in their lifetime which is 200 million people but the saddest thing is that due to the stigma associated with mental illness lack of awareness and limited access to professional help only 10 to 12 per cent of these sufferers will seek health
Also, research shows that women are twice as likely to develop depression and anxiety compared to men this is mainly because of gender stereotypes domestic violence socio-economic disadvantage sexual harassment etc
So mental health is a serious thing to be considered if those with mental health concerns are not getting better treatment then in worst cases it can result in suicides globally a black people die due to suicide every year which is one person every 40 seconds
Also, there are indications that for each adult who died due to suicide there are 20 others who are attempting suicide
so the mental health education is really important and it should be given to each and every citizen first step for this is that school should include mental health education in the curriculum to remove the taboo around mental illness and sensitize students
caring for our minds is as important and crucial as caring for a body because one cannot be healthy without the other.
