Short Essay on Durga Puja

Durga Puja which we celebrate with great pomp and joy is been started by Shri Rama during the war with the Devon Ravana at the time of Ashwin, the Ravana was killed by Rama is known as Dussehra.

Apart from all now we enter into the main incarnation of the divine being . as per Hindu mythology, the festival marks the victory of goddess  Durga against the battle with mahisasura.
It shows the victory of good over evil and also its influences and enhances the motherly or women's power behind all of life and creation.

Durga puja is been coincides with Navratri and Dussehra celebrations by other traditions of Hinduism in which ram Lila drama is been enacted by common by the common people where it shows the victory of Rama against Ravana, and they finally burn the effigies of Ravana

But the whole panorama is been started from the day (mahalaya) is also known as akalbodhan . A day on which all the Hindu goes to river Ganga and offers water, food and clothing in name of their dead ancestors and this performance is known as tarpon.

The day is believed to be marked the start of Durga's journey to her natal home but the celebrations begin and the puja starts to every pandal from the day of sasti(the sixth day).

It is a ten-day festival where people start hopping from one pandal to another on the ; last five days of significance. Other than goddess  Durga other major deities is also included such as goddess Lakshmi( the goddess of the wealth of prosperity ), Saraswati( the goddess of knowledge and music ), Ganesha( the god of good beginnings) and Kartikeya ( the god of war) these are the children of goddess Durga.

the Durga puja is started o the sixth day from the god of good beginning on this day “kola bou” is been established at the side of Ganesha after taking bath from river Ganga.

As per rituals each and every deity including their sacred births and animals the “ choke daan “ period is been take place after a while the whole panorama starts with the chanting of mantras by the pundits.

The whole decorum was the most devoting place full of peace just like the “ dhaker sur and kashorer tal purohiter  ghonta ar mughdho dhoop dhunor gondho”  just a mesmerizing moment. we the people just love to dance with all the mix max of the sounds as on the day goes on and the next day quite follows the same the awaiting thing is the “ Sondhi puja”.

Now it comes to Aastami ( the eight-day ) the most important day to prove the bolognese for all  the Bengali as on the day the girls and women's love to wear saree and for boys kurtas / Punjabis  on the very early morning everyone makes a crowd to the pandals and the curiosity level is for giving puspanjali

its very lovable to see the newly married couples “ the love birds” and also it ends with the biggest evening puja ( Sondhi puja), 108 lanterns or diyas is been lighted and also 108 lotus is offered to goddess Durga and then comes the Navami ( the ninth day ) the biggest rituals take place like devotees sacrifice an animals but nowadays in place of animals, fruits are placed as for sacrificing purpose .

The deities is offered special food ( bhog ) and ( homa) has been done to satisfy the deities including goddess Durga . after the completion of “homa and blog” rituals the blog is distributed among all the nearby people as the name of prashad.

At evening again the sandhi puja takes place and when it covers the night the Chunichi nach takes place each and everyone dance with the dhunuchi and dhuno  and looks most lovable dancing with beats of dhak. The Dashami arrives the very next day the saddest day as it’s the time to say goodbye “ the day of bisorjon”

The morning starts with the customs  and rituals of “ thread  tearing”  and releases the soul from the deities after that people watch the face and foots of maa Durga in turmeric water as per rules and dodhi karma is provided as blog to goddess and at evening  goddess Durga along with other deities is placed on the truck for the procession of bhasan or Vijaya Dashami after that “ maa er boron “, and then sindur khela of all the married women.

Each and everyone wishes for them and their families well beings and asks for special wishes to be fulfilled as per maa Durga blessing. as the truck starts for the procession to the river Ganga we all wishes for prosperity and well being with the tears on everyone's eye and thin curve on the lips with the last goodbye to goddess Durga with the slogan,

“ ASCHE BOCHOR ABAR HOBE “
